Spirit urges shareholders to reject JetBlue’s offer

Spirit Airlines said on Tuesday it’s board had urged shareholders to reject the unsolicited buyout from JetBlue Airways, the airline said the offer was not in the best in interest of the carrier and sits stockholders.

This comes as the airline’s union, The Association of Flight Attendants-CWA who represents Spirit Airlines and Frontier Airlines flight attendants said on Tuesday they backed the Spirit-Frontier planned merger. They also said they had reached a so-called merger transition agreement with Frontier that prohibits the furloughing of flight attendants during the merger, this is in addition to guaranteeing other protections.
