Sukhoi SSJ100 Sees Huge Rise in Flights

The Russia made Sukhoi SSJ100 has seen a big rise in flights following sanctions on parts and support for Western Airbus, Boeing and Embraer jets.

These manufacturers have all stopped supplying parts to Russia, many aircraft are unable to fly due to not having proper maintenance. Aircraft registered in Bermuda have had their certificate of airworthiness withdrawn, this has led to them being re-registered onto the Russian register over the past few days. This has heavily impacted the Russian aviation as intended but has also affected companies such as Aercap, these are unable to recover their aircraft and at the same time are not receiving payments on their lease.

This has led Russian airlines to look for Russian made alternatives such as the Sukhoi SSJ100, most parts for this aircraft are manufactured in Russia and are not affected by sanctions, though it is worth noting that others such as the avionics are Western components.

Before the sanctions were imposed there were less than 10,000 monthly flights performed by the SSJ100, now there are nearly 14,000 planned. Rossiya an airline which operates flights on behalf of Aeroflot has cut their Airbus A320 flight 67% and Boeing 737 flights 37% at the same time it increased SSJ100 operations 35%, Russias biggest airline Aeroflot increased its scheduled operations for the type 207%.
