British Airways experiencing huge IT outage, possible Cyber Attack

British Airways is currently experiencing major IT outages with both its mobile app and website being down, this has led the airline to cancel flights and ground aircraft.

The problem is so bad that planes arriving into London Heathrow (LHR) are not able to get their gate assignment, this means they have to sit on the ramp until they are allocated one manually, passengers are not able to check in and pilots are relying on paper flights plans and weight and balance sheets. The airline said in a statement that it was experiencing “significant technical issues” that were affecting the running of its entire operation, thought it appears as a cyber attack, this is the second outage within 10 days the airline has repeatedly denied this claim. The suspicion comes amid the ongoing crisis in eastern Europe, earlier today the UK decided to ban Aeroflot from its airspace as part of its sanctions against russia, they responded by banning UK flights from their airspace.
